1. Overview & Commitment to Privacy
Meme Soundboard (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) is developed with a strict privacy-first architecture. We do not require you to create an account, log in with social media, or provide personal credentials (such as your name, email address, or phone number) to enjoy the App.
This Privacy Policy explains what limited information is processed when you use the App, how device permissions are utilized, and how third-party monetization services (Google Mobile Ads and Google Play In-App Billing) handle anonymized technical data.
2. On-Device Local Processing (No Cloud Upload)
- Audio Playback & Library: All 10,000+ pre-installed sound effects and downloaded sound packs are stored and decoded locally on your device storage. We do not monitor or track which specific sounds you listen to or favorite.
- Custom Voice Recordings: When you use the Voice Recorder feature, audio recorded through your device microphone is processed and saved strictly into your device’s private application sandbox. Your recordings are never uploaded to any remote server or cloud service.
- Custom Meme Combos & Edits: All audio trimming, pitch shifts, and combo sequences are rendered entirely on-device.
3. Device Permissions & Purpose
To deliver core soundboard and gaming features, the App requests specific Android runtime permissions:
android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO (Microphone):
- Purpose: Exclusively required when you choose to use the custom Voice Recorder tool to create your own sound clips.
- Scope: Audio is recorded only while you actively press the record button. Recordings remain 100% local on your device.
android.permission.SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW (Floating Overlay):
- Purpose: Enables the floating bubble and mini soundboard dock to appear over other applications, multiplayer games, and voice calls.
- Scope: Used solely to draw the floating soundboard UI. It does not inspect, read, or capture screen contents of other apps.
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE & FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK:
- Purpose: Keeps the floating overlay service and background audio engine responsive while games are active.
- Scope: Displays a persistent system notification with quick pause and stop controls.
android.permission.WRITE_SETTINGS / Ringtone Management:
- Purpose: Allows you to assign selected sound effects as system ringtones, alarms, or notification sounds upon explicit user action.
android.permission.VIBRATE:
- Purpose: Provides tactile haptic feedback when tapping sound buttons.
